Caption   The huge ears of a Black-tailed Jackrabbit (Lepus californicus) are backlit by the sun in Big Bend National Park, Texas. The numerous veins in the ears help to regulate heat in the harsh desert environment. The jackrabbit is sometimes known as the American desert hare.
